B cells are the functional cells
of the humoral immune system that mature into immunoglobulins. B cells are type
of white blood cells and they develop from stem cells in the bone marrow. Many B cells mature into plasma cells that produce immunoglobulins
(proteins) needed to fight off infections while other B cells mature into
memory B cells.
