Get a common denominator. 

2/3 = 8/12

8/12 = 8/12

They are equal!

8/12 ,is greater than 2/3 or 8/12,2/3

and to prove it they have a common denominator is 2/3 therefore they are equal 
so 8/12 is 8/12
