China was forced to do many things. They were forced to continue importing opium as well as keep the import tariffs extremely low. They also had to give Hong Kong to Britain, allow Christian Missionaries to spread their religion, allow foreigners to buy land, give their land to foreigners for military purposes, give their natural resources away, and many other things.
