I believe the two main goals of a political is to poke fun at what is currently going on in the world and make you laugh, but also informing you on what’s going on. I hope this helped! :-)
Political cartoons can be very funny especially when if you understand the issue that they are commenting on. Their main purpose, though, is not to amuse but to persuade you.
