The inverse operation of subtraction is addition. Lets use the inverse operation to solve x. Lets do it:-

x - 5.6 = -1.7
-1.7 + 5.6 = x
-1.7 + 5.6 = 3.9 
x = 3.9

CHECK OUR WORK:-

3.9 - 5.6 = -1.7
We were RIGHT!!

So, x = 3.9.

Simplify it

x = 3.9
