collect like terms

log x - log(x + 1) = log 2-1og 3

Re-write the equation by applying laws of logarithms in that when you subtract logs you divide the numbers/terms. This will give

log [ x / x+1 ] = log [2/3]

Cancel log on both sides to remain with;

x/ x+1 = 2/3

Apply cross-product

3{x} = 2{x+1}

3x = 2x + 2

3x-2x = 2

x = 2
