(y1-y2)/(x1-x2)

so for the point (-1,2) let’s say

-1 = x1

and

2 = y1

and for the point (4,-2) let’s say

4 = x2

and

-2 = y2

to find slope we plug in the values to our slope equation and we get this:

(2-(-2))/( -1-4)

(2+2)/-5

4/-5

so slope is -4/5

because to get from (-1,2) to (-4,-2) you have to move down 4 and to the right 5
