A brief answer, WWI started when a German citizen went to another country & decided to murder the Arch Duke Ferdinand with a couple other people, he tried to take cyanide to not reveal his intentions afterwards but got stopped, captured, & interrogated blaming the whole thing on Germany & that kicked off a series of events causing WWI
