  • Austria-Hungary: Termed as a single country as they were closely associated with each other on many fronts.
  • Italy: Believed to have entered the alliance owing to the conflicts that it had with France and Great Britain.

The following are the countries that had conflicting interests (triple entente):

  • France: Tried to establish territorial dominance in Europe and believed it was the most superior power among all the Europen powers.
  • Great Britain: Wished to establish its own dominance in Europe as well as outside Europe.
  • Russia: Was back then the most powerful eastern country and wished to take most European countries under its control.
