This is the Trail of Tears, this was a resulting factor of the Indian removal act.

In 1838, around 2,000 Cherokee had voluntarily moved from Georgia to Indian Territory (present day Oklahoma). Forcible removals began in May 1838 when General Winfield Scott received a final order from President Martin Van Buren to relocate the remaining Cherokees.
