If there is a pattern here to follow then the person before is wrong. If there is no pattern then you are wrong with all of the answers there 

8+11=40 This is because in this pattern you take the equations before answer and add it to the equation you have so for the first equation you have 5 for the second equation you actually add 2+5+5=12 so the last one equals 8+11+21=40
