How did maize help people in the early Americas

Maize created a food source that was easily grown. Maize is basically the unmodified version of corn -- bigger, more discolored, and less sweet. A lot of the settled down Indians grew it and traded with it as well. It was also used for hunting and such.

Maiz is corn. It  enabled many people (such as native americans) to survive. They were also able to make things out of the husks. Hope this Helps!!
