Replace values of n in expression with 1/4.

9(1/4 + 2) - 5(1/4)

Distributive property

9/4 + 2 - 5/4

Rearrange.

2 + 9/4 - 5/4

Subtract.

2 + 4/4

Simplify.

2 + 1

The expression is equal to 3 when n = 1/4.
