what do you notice about the y-intercept in a direct variation equation?

The y-intercept is always 0 in a direct variation equation.

This is because the base equation is always y = kx with no constant at the end of it. The constant is used as the y intercept in slope intercept form and since it is not there, it is assumed to be 0.
