Mitosis and meiosis are both processes of cell division. In mitosis, the daughter cells have the same number of chromosomes as the parent cell; meanwhile, the chromosome number is halved in meiosis to produce gametes. During both processes, cytokinesis takes place, which is the division of cell cytpolasm into two daughter cells.
